Frequently Asked Questions (GHS)

Questions and answers:

Why didn`t we hear of your company before or your products?
Because we were working for the human field for clinics and got into this market 3 years ago, when we won the public tender for one of the largest phenotype centers in Europe. First we wanted to finish our project and then go to the market.

What databases are you supporting?
When we first offered in this market we had SQLBase. Then the system was ported to Oracle. At the end of 2002 we received the order to deliver a Sybase Port. Sybase and Oracle are our recommendation for very large databases and many user accesses. SQLBase is good for small and medium sized facilities and laboratories, which have only little database administration knowledge.

What operating systems do you support?
The databases Oracle and Sybase run under Windows and Unix including Linux. SQLBase runs under Windows and Linux. The application itself is a Windows application. Gupta has announced its developement tolls under Linux for the fourth quarter of 2004. Then we will also offer our system under Linux.

Are you supporting web access?
Yes. We provide web access with Thin ICA Clients and Citrix Metaframe Presentation Manager Architecture.

Do you support different languages?
Yes. At the moment we support an english and a german version. We have developed software and a memory, which allows us to produce versions for other languages very rapidly. In our system administration we have a module, which allows the systemadministrator to change the label of any visual object and store it in the database. This allows even mixed language versions e.g. for the scientists in english and for the caretakers in german.

Can an enduser change the lay out of the screens?
Yes. We provide a module called Objectnationalizer, which allows the loading of the complete user interface and its changing. A user interface changed in such a way can be applied to its correspondent executable. This technic can be used to adapt the screen loy out for devices like PDAs, tablet PCs and Palm Tops.

What kind of end user devices do you support?
Any device, which can run a browser and an ICA Client either as ActiveX or Java applet is supported.

Does this include wireless technology?

Yes. These end user devices are supported extremely well, even if only low bandwidth is available. Even a modem with 20800 Bault works well.

Is offline work in the animal facility supported?
All moving of animals, like moves, transfers, admissions and discharges as well as culling and weaning including the preproduction of cagecards are supported with thehelp of a job protocoll. A caretaker only needs a pencil and paper, or in an ideal situation a transponder reader, to perform all his jobs. Medical data can be protocolled in paper forms and can be transfered afterwards to the central database. In case of the availability of offline devices the data can be replicated automatically into the central database.

Will GCRS help me to get a GLP certificate?
Definitely, yes. All events in the facility and all changings in the medical records are protocolled in the database on the one hand. On the other hand GCRS supports data protocoll print outs as a documentation for the business processes.
